Tadpoles Squad

Kingston Upon Hull Tadpole swimmers continued to shine at the clubs 3rd gala of the year. The young swimmers who are the future of the club are showing a dramatic improvement. While only swimming 25m they all showed great technical ability.

The boys 25m backstroke was won by 7 year old Daniel Oliver in a time of 23.58 seconds with Ross McKay second and Cameron Offen third. The freestyle event was won by 9 year old Charlie Bucur in a time of 21.98 seconds with Ross McKay yet again second and Oliver Farrah in third place.

The girls event proved just as exciting and in the 25m backstroke Elizabeth Hawkard took the gold medal in a time of 22.29 seconds with Gemma Page second and Ellie Peaks third. The freestyle event was won by Hannah Sedman-Smith in a time of 20.52 seconds with Jolie Bull second and Elizabeth Hawkard third.

Age 3 Squad

The Age 3 swimmers competing under the guidance of squad coach Mike Dervey also showed a marked improvement and performed very well at the recent club champs. The younger members aged 8 and under competed in the 25m Freestyle and 25m Backstroke.

In the Freestyle, Jolie Bull and Katy Greenacre gained PB's. Hannah Sedman-Smith took the gold, Jolie the silver, and Lily Hawkard the bronze. In the 25m Backstroke, the PB's were hugely improved with Lily taking the gold, shaving 7 seconds off to gain a time of 22.29, Gemma Page, with the silver, took off a huge 14 seconds and Jolie took the bronze with 8 seconds off her PB. Hannah Sedman-Smith also took 2 seconds off her PB.

The 50m freestyle was a first for all the Age 3 swimmers, with Matthew Dixon, 9 yrs, gaining 4th place, and Samuel Bailey, 9 yrs and Michael Anderson, 10 years also having a great swim. This race was the 10 years and under age group.

In the girls 10 year and under 50m Freestyle, Jolie, 8 years earned an impressive 5th place, with Hannah and Lily, also both 8 years close behind. Also following from just outside a second off the 5th place was Kila Caprani, Emily Wilkinson, Natasha Clark, Molly Marritt and Gemma Page.

Age 2 Squad

Age 2 coach Kevin Malton says he is proud of his swimmers after they perform well at club gala.

In the boys 100m fly event, Ben Chapman came 1st with a time of 1.33.84, Jack Woodcock got silver and Lewis Masters gained the bronze medal. Alistair Clough came 4th in the 11/12 years age group.

The boys competed in the 400m IM for the first time. Jack got gold with a time of 7.45.62 and Lewis the silver with a time of 7.59.85. The boys also competed in the 50m freestyle event and in the 10 years and under age group, Ben Chapmen achieved the gold and Jack Woodcock the silver both gaining their age 10 Yorkshire times. Lewis Collins got the bronze medal being a mere 3 tenths of a second off his 9 years Yorkshire time. Lewis Masters got 5th place and Alistair got a 4 second PB to claim silver in the 11/12 years age.

Not to be outdone by the boys, the girls also performed well, In the 10 and under 100m fly. Aleah Ross claimed the silver with a time of 1.44.67, Melissa Machin got the bronze medal and Kennedy Akrill and Hollie Verity came 4th and 5th respectively. In the 11/12 years category Leoni Bull came 5th with a time of 1.43.73 and Abigail Malton 6th with a time of 1.52.06.

After battling a severe case of nerves, the girls 10s and over competed in their first 400m IM. Abigail came 6th in a time of 7.33.78 and Jessica Mowthrope came 7th with a time of 7.40.75 with Georgina Oxtoby getting 8th and Laura Bailes 9th.

The girls did well in the 50m free event in the 10s and under age. Aleah came 2nd gaining her 9 years Yorkshire time, Melissa came 3rd and Kennedy came 4th also achieving her 9 year Yorkshire time. Also Amy Greenacre came 6th and Hollie 9th. In the 11/12 year age, Georgina and Jessica both achieved personal bests getting 4th and 5th with Laura coming 7th.

Coach Kevin Malton said the swimmers gave it their all and he couldn’t have asked for more.

Regional Squad

The Regional Development squad also had a number of swimmers on show with the pick of the bunch being Emma Beadle. Emma took a massive 25 second of her 400 IM time, 1.5 seconds of her 50m freestyle time and a second of her 100m fly time. Zoe Webster was not far behind Emma. Zoe reduced her 400m IM time by 6 seconds and 2 seconds of her 50m freestyle time.

Dale Booth also impressed in the 100m fly by knocking 3 seconds of his 100m fly time.
