The Middlesbrough Open event saw some great efforts and results by the swimmers from Kingston Upon Hull swimming club held in Middlesbrough from the 7th – 9th May 2010. In the 9/10 year group, Yasmin Brown came 6th in the 200m IM and a PB in the 100m Freestyle. Shannon McGahey had a great weekend achieving a PB in her 400 Freestyle to get 1st place in a time of 5:04.77. Shannon also got 1st in the 100m Butterfly, 2oo Freestyle, 100m Backstroke and 200m Butterfly. She came 2nd in both the 200m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle events. Emily Bailey also did well with 6th place in the 200 IM and the 100 and 200 m Freestyle, 4th place in the 200 Breaststroke and 3rd in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:17.42. In the 12 year group, Dervla Curran achieved 4th place in the 400m Freestyle coming in at 4:58.28, 4th in the 200m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke, and a 3rd place in 200m Breaststroke.
The 11 year old boys were not to be outdone and kept up the high standards already set. Bailey Hairsine got a 4th place in the 200 IM, 3rd in the 100m Backstroke and two second place medals for the 100m and 200m Butterfly. Daniel Stone got a 3rd in the 200m IM and the 200m Butterfly and 2nd in both the 100m and 200m Backstroke. Nathan Greenwood got a 3rd in 200m Breaststroke and 2nd in the 100m Breaststroke. Rhys Dodd's swam well and got a Gold medal for his 400m Freestyle with a time of 5:19.12.
In the 12 year boys Will Dennis kept up the achievements,, when he swam well in the 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke and 200m Butterfly with a time of 3:04.70. In the 13 year age group, Oche Igoche had a great weekend with a 4th place for his 100m and 200m Backstroke, 3rd in the 200m Breaststroke with a time of 2:56.16 and 2nd place in the 100m Freestyle with a time of 58.83.
New member to the club 14 year old Cameron Hulme had a great start coming in 2nd place in the 200m Breaststroke and 400m Freestyle with a time of 4:30.07. He came 4th in the 100m and 200m Backstroke and 200m Butterfly, and 2nd in the 200m Breaststroke.
The older girls age group 13, kept up the clubs reputation with Eleanor Thompson getting a 4th in the 200m IM, 200m and 100m Breaststroke, 5th in the 200m Backstroke and a Gold medal in the 100m Backstroke with a time of 1:08.67. Roisin Kelly got a 5th place for her 200m IM and 100m Butterfly. She got a 3rd in the 100m Backstroke and a Silver medal for her 200m Backstroke in a time of 2:26.02. Shannon Fowler got 7th place in the 200m Freestyle, 6th place for the 100m Freestyle and 5th place for both the 400m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke and the 200m Breaststroke in a time of 2:58.49. Amy Felgate got a 7th place in the 200m Backstroke and a 4th in the 200m Butterfly. But her best performances came in the 200m Freestyle with a time of 2:11.89 and the 100m Freestyle with a time of 1:01.59 securing her 2 Gold medals.
Coach Nick Mills was extremely proud of his swimmers and believed that the results shown were down to the hard work and commitment shown by all.
