Club Championship 5 Report

Kingston Upon Hulls 5th Club Championships of the year yet again focused on the continued development of the younger end of the club. But it also gave the more established swimmers the chance to gain Yorkshire and North East Region time ready for the new season.
Tadpoles Squad
The tadpoles put in some terrific performances with the majority of the swimmers achieving personal best times in all the events.
In the girls 25m Freestyle event the 7 years and under age group was won by Eloise Shuttleworth in a personal best time of 26.31, with Tayla Ross in 2nd place improving her previous best time by nearly over four seconds and Eva Lowery a close 3rd.
In the 8 and over/novice race Megan Gray proved what a talent she is for the future by finishing 1st in a time of 18.80 seconds, with Isabella Waudby 2nd and Helen Beales 3rd.
In the boys 25m Freestyle, the 7 years and under age group was won by Ben Sawdon in a time of 26.96, with Matthew Blain 2nd and Sam Clubley 3rd, all 3 swimmers making personal best times.
The boys 8 and over age group was won by Oliver Farrah in a time of 19.16 seconds, Benjamin Shipley 2nd and Nathan Porter 3rd again all in personal best times.
In the girls 25m Breaststroke event, the girls 7 and under was won by Eloise Shuttleworth again with Kaci Hope 2nd and Eva Lowery 3rd with only 1.6 seconds separating the 3 girls. Megan Gray also won again in the 8’s and over with a time of 25.90 with Iyanna Purdy 2nd and Jessica Bradley 3rd.
The biggest personal bests of the day came from the boys in the 7 and under race which saw Ben Sawdon finish 1st in a time of 34.81 seconds knocking 6 seconds of his previous best time, with Matthew Blain 2nd and Evan Offen 3rd. The 8 and over was won by Ben Shipley in a time of 28.14, Oliver Farrah 2nd and Nathan Porter came in 3rd improving his best time by 8 seconds.
Age 3
Our 5th club gala saw some of our age 3’s undertake a huge challenge by taking part in the 400m freestyle, excellent efforts were seen by Jolie Bull, Gemma Page, Hannah Sedman Smith and Lillie May Wilkinson all swimmers gained respectable times.
Next game the girls 100m IM, Lily Hawkard took the Gold taking 6 secs of her personal best, Jolie Bull the silver and Ruby Willingham the Bronze taking a huge 10 secs off her PB.
In the boys 100M IM, the Gold Medal went to Liam Spence taking 3 secs off his previous time, silver to Charlie Bucur with a PB of 5 secs and Bronze to William Bucur.
In the girls 50m Breaststroke, Lily Hawkard gained her 2nd Gold medal of the day, new comer Paris Croll took silver and Alexandra Rolmanis took the Bronze.
The Boys 50m Breaststroke the Gold medal went to Joshua Wormald and Silver was taken by Alex Everson.
Age 2 Squad
Once again Age 2 squad produced a fantastic performance at the Gala 5, coming away with 28 PB's (and not small ones at that), 6 Yorkshire times, 1 Gold, 5 Silvers and 2 Bronze medals.
Lewis Collins had an outstanding meeting achieving Yorkshire times in all of his 3 races along with a gold medal in the 400m Free. Lewis achieved a 76 sec PB time achieving his 10yr olds Yorkshire Time by some 18 sec’s. Next came the 100m IM where Lewis achieved his Yorkshire time by nearly 4 sec's in a 6 sec PB time of 1:36.20, and finally Lewis swam in the 50m Breast where he achieved a Gold and his 10yr old Yorkshire time in a 5 sec PB time of 49.98.
The girls 11yrs and under 400m Free produced fantastic times with Melissa Machin taking Bronze in a 32 Sec PB time of 5:59.98. Outstanding PB’s were also achieved by Emma Newmarch gaining a 90sec PB time of 6:19.28, Aleah Ross achieving her 10yr old Yorkshire time with a time of 6:24.89, a 12sec PB, Emily Tate swam a 63sec PB time of 6:28.12, Francesca Cone achieved a 45 sec PB time of 6:53.78, Amy Greenacre achieved a 57sec PB time of 7:02.92, Hannah Bird also produced a PB time 0f 7:38.74 a 27 sec PB. Swimming the event for the first time were Jolie Bull with a time of 6:48.36, Madeleine Tait 6:57.72 and Natasha Clark swimming a time of 7:29.87
Representing the girls 12/13 was Laura Bailes who produced a fantastic PB time of 6:29.19 an improvement of 60 secs on her previous best while placing 7th
The boys 11yrs and Under saw Matthew Longhorn take Silver in his first swim in this event with a time of 5:53.28, Callum Wright produced a brilliant swim to take Bronze and gain a 10yr olds Yorkshire time in an 86sec PB time of 6:09.36, Lewis Collins achieved a 76 sec and also gained his 10yr olds Yorkshire time coming in with a time of 6:11.26, Lewis Marsters also achieved a great PB time of 6:13.61 improving his previous best by 65 sec’s, Samuel Bailey gained his 10yr olds Yorkshire time with a PB of 6:18.09 which was 11 sec’s better than his previous best, Logan Young produced the biggest PB time improvement of 89 sec’s while swimming 6:42.41. Luke Taylor also achieved a big PB improvement of 49 sec’s swimming a time of 6:44.53, swimming the event for the first time Matthew Dixon swam a great time of 6:42.53.
Age 1 Squad
Age 1 swimmers put in some great swims to claim medals and new Personal best’s. The first event for them was the 400m Free in which 11 and under Jack Woodcock took the gold for the boys with a new PB time of 5.50.40 and Yasmin Brown took the girls 11 and under gold with Darcey Hambly taking the silver .
In the 13 years and under, Lauren Hall took the silver with a new PB . Chloe Hamilton got a new PB to take the bronze medal while Jessica Chapman and Hannah Willingham both knocked 6 seconds of their times. In the boys 12/13 years, Will Maddrell took the gold with a great 13 second PB in a time of 4.48.82.
The next event was the 200m Fly and Darcey Hambly swam this event for the first time, finishing in a time of 3.45 to claim the gold medal. Leoni Bull also swam this for the first time and finished in a respectable 3.31.42, Hannah Willingham managed a whooping 20 second PB to claim the bronze medal and Jess also swimming this event for the first time and putting in a great effort to finish in 3.13 to claim the silver medal . Lauren Hall took the gold with another PB and Will Maddrell swam his way to his second gold in the 200m Fly finishing in a time of 2.41.71.
The last event of the day was the 50m Breast , where Yasmin Brown swam her way to a new PB to claim the gold medal . Lauren Hall took her second silver with her 3rd PB of the day and Chloe Hamilton claimed the bronze with a new PB. Jessica Chapman was showing signs of fatigue after coming second in a 5k running race that morning but put in a great effort, and Hannah Willingham finished off the day with a good swim to finish in 5th place. Will Maddrell finished off the day in style for Age 1 swimmers by taking his 3rd gold of the event with a 4 second PB in the 50 breast.
Regional Squad
The older Regional squad warmed up nicely for the forthcoming Hull Open, with 21 year old James Rodmell lowering his 400m Free time to 4.29 seconds, 20 year old Danny Brown also lowered his 400m time and also his 50m Breast time.
In the younger boys Ben Annis, Tom Longhorn and Hesh Mardon all showed big improvement in the 400m event with big personal best swims.
All the Regional girls showed massive improvement with Emma Beadle improving her 400m time by a massive 30 seconds, Zoe Webster improved her time by 13 seconds with Eleanor Johnstone also showing good form.
