Bellamy to go to world Biathle Championships

Natasha Bellamy secures her place as part of the Great Britain Biathle squad, after qualifying in third place at this years National Biathle Championships held at Salford Quays, Manchester. Natasha will represent Great Britain at the World Biathle Championships being held in Sofia, Bulgaria on September 25th.

Biathle involves a continuous 1km run followed by an open water 200m swim and a further 1km run.

Natasha 16, of Longcroft School Beverley is a member of the National Squad of Kingston Upon Hull Swim Club and competitor of Yorkshire Pentathlon. A tough initial run, Natasha entered the open water of Salford Quays as the second to last competitor. Her background and experience as a national swimmer helped Natasha swim her way through the pack and start the next leg of running with the top five girls. The final 1km run is a test of stamina and mental strength and with the finish line in sight Natasha dug deep to storm to third place.

That was tough, my first 1km run felt so tiring, most of the girls are runners so i found it hard to go so fast at the beginning. Last year was the same but i knew my swim leg would be strong and got me back with the leaders. I am amazed i hung in but i have been doing more long distance running so i think my endurance kept me strong until the end. To come third, win a medal and be selected to represent Great Britain is fantastic.

Natasha was selected last year to compete in Dubai but due to swimming commitments could not go. Unfortunately this trip is unfunded so any help with sponsorship would be greatly appreciated.
