ROTHERHAM METRO
With most of the Kingston’s swimmers at the club championship, a number of the Regional squad attended the Rotherham Metro Long course meet in Sheffield.
14 year old Ben Annis got things underway for the club in the 200m freestyle, recording a 10sec pb and backed this up with 2 sec improvement in the 50 frontcrawl.
As the swimmers began to lower their times the medal’s started to come with Fionnbhar Downes taking 1st place in the boys 14 years 100m backstroke event. Heshaw Mardan then took 1st in the 15 years age group, and Elliott Stephenson and Conner Downes both recording 3 sec pb’s. Hesh’s long course pb times continued to tumbled as he competed in the 100m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 100m breaststroke and 50m frontcrawl.
In the boys 50m breaststroke Elliott Stephenson produced a fine 3rd place with Ben, Connor and Fionnbhar Downes all recording new improved times.
The next for the boys was 100m frontcrawl, repeating his success Mardan yet again took 1st place, with Ben, Elliot, Connor and Fionnbhar all swimming long course pb’s. Fionnbhar Downes managed a Yorkshire Qualifying time in the 50m butterfly event with a 3 second improvement on his time.
Not to be out done by the boys Emma Beadle 14 took 2nd place in the 100m butterfly, then recorded a 2 second pb in the100m breaststroke.
On day two of the gala Emma continued her success with a 1st place in the 200m frontcrawl with a 4 sec improvement, she also had good swims in the 100m frontcrawl, 100m backstroke and 200m breaststroke.
Also competing in the 200m breaststroke was Zoe Webster, who went on to take first place in the 100m frontcrawl and pb’s in the 50m breaststroke, 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly events.
Day two also went well for the boys, Elliott Stephenson started well with a 3 sec pb in his 200m breaststroke, 2nd place in the 50m backstroke, then recorded improvement in the 100m breaststroke and 50m frontcrawl events.
