Sheffield No Frills Meet Ponds Forge, Sheffield Saturday 31st May – Sunday 1st June 2014

The National Squad attended Sheffield No Frills Meet (50 meter long course) at Ponds Forge over the weekend of 31st May & 1st June 2014 and proved to be a tough weekend of swimming for the squad, competing against high calibre of swimmers from all over the country.

Kicking off the weekend of swimming for the girls, all competing in the 15/16 years ago group, was 15 year old Hannah Willingham who posted a personal best in the 800 meter freestyle with a new time of 10.27.72. 15 year old Shannon McGahey had two 10th place finishes in the 400 meter individual medley and the 200 meter butterfly. 15 year old Abigail Stringer posted a personal best in her 100 meter breastroke with a new time of 1.22.72.

14 year old Will Costello gained three new personal best times over the weekend. First was in the 100 meter freestyle with a new time of 59.47 and secured him 10th place in his age group. Next was in the 100 meter backstroke with a new time of 1.11.44 which also secured him 10th place finish. Will’s final improvement came in the 400 meter individual medley with a new time 5.30.50.

15 year old Bailey Hairsine secured a personal best knocking 2 seconds off his 400 meter freestyle with a new time of 4.22.88.
