Course : Short Course – 25 metre.

Kingston Upon Hull Swimming Club was well represented at the North East Regional Championships in Sunderland by qualifying swimmers. They achieved well in excess of 40 top ten finishes and matched it in medals and Personal Bests.

Nationals Squad

Alex Stringer,15, swam in 8 races and gained 6 PBs. She also made the senior open final in her 200m breast and won a bronze medal in the junior 100 Back. . From her 8 swims she gained 5 Senior NER times in preparation for next December.

Joe Basdeo-Taylor,13, swam in 8 events in the 13 year old age group. He won an impressive four golds (400m IM, 200m IM, 200 Breast and 200m Fly) and 4 bronzes (400m free 200m free, 100m free and 100 Fly) and gained 7 PBs.

Aleah Ross ,14, swam in 7 races and won a bronze medal in 100m Free which was a national time and a KUHSC record. Aleah also won a silver medal in 50m Free and gained another national time and club record.

Lewis Collins,14, swam in 8 races and PB’d in every race. His highlight was his bronze medal in the 50m Free in which he also broke the club record.

Ben Parsons qualified for three events, he gained two personal best times in the 50m fly and the 200m breaststroke.

Junior A Squad

Megan Gray, 12, was on top form achieving 3 well -earned Gold medals in 800m Free with a 10 sec PB; 400m Free and 200m Free. Megan also took Silver in 50m Free and 4th place in 100m Free , 7th place in 100m Back and 10th in 200m (IM).

Amy Corcoran, 13, didn’t fail to impress excelling in the 200m Breast taking home the Gold medal as well as Bronze in the 200m IM, both with PB’s. Amy also produced 6 further PB’s in 50m and 100m Breast events; 100m and 200m Free and 100m fly and 100m back.

Carter Lees, 12, impressed with an excellent swim and 5 second PB in 200m Back to bring home the Silver. Carter gained further PB’s in 50m Back and 50m Free and came in 8th place in 100m Back.

Clementine Lovel, 12, had an amazing weekend after struggling with months of injuries, taking Silver in 200m f ree wiping 8 secs off her PB as well as securing Bronze and 3 second PB in 100m free. Clementine also clinched 4th place and PB,s in both 50m Free and 100m back.

Callum Willert , 11, swam exceptionally well in all his 8 races finishing 7 in the top 5 places. Callum sliced 10 seconds off his 400IM PB to claim a Bronze medal and a further Bronze was clinched in 100m back. Further PB’s were gained in 200m and 50m breast; 200m IM, 200m back and a massive 13 second PB in 400m free.

Ellie Hextall, 13, showed great determination saving the best for the North East with great swims and PB’s in all 7 races. Ellie came away with 2 Bronze medals in 50m and 100m Free and produced an impressive 15 second PB in 400m Freeto take 5th place, as well as 5th in 200m Free; 10th place in 200m IM and 8th place and 2 sec PB in 50m Breast and 1 sec PB in 100m fly.

Frances Luckup, 13, had a superb weekend achieving PB’s in all her events, her best being an exceptional 30 sec PB in 800m Free. Frances gained further PB’s in 200m Free taking 7th place and 4th place in 100m Back and 3 more PB’s in 50m and 100m Free and 100m back.

More Great swims were had by Molly Green, 11, who took 4th place in both 100m Breast and 200m Breast with a 4second PB. Molly also PB’d in 200m fly coming in 9th place.

Alex Everson, 13, produced strong swims gaining PB’s in all 3 fly events including a 2 second PB in 200m Fly coming in 5th place. Alex also achieved PB and 6th place in 200m Back. Lily Hawkard, 13 had some of the toughest races but impressed with a 7 sec PB in the 400m IM and gained further well-deserved PB’s in 200m Breast and 200m fly events. Abbie Bowden, 13, hard work paid off over the long weekend she achieved a well earned silver medal in 100m free in a time of 1.01.50 and pb of 1.47sec, she took 4th place in the 100m breast, 7th place in the 200m IM and 50m free and finished the weekend with an 11th and 16th place in the 200m free & 100m fly.

Finlay Gowan

Regional A Squad

Alice Carey, 23, competed in the 100m free, 100m back, 50m free, 50m back. She reached the finals in both of her 50m events. She also competed in the team relays.

Megan Batterbee, 14, competing in her first NER’s swam in both the junior and age group events. She improved her times in both the 50m free and 50m backstroke.

Melissa Machin, 15, equaled her personal best times in the 50m fly and 50m free. Kennedy Akrill, 15, also competing for the first time improved her 50m fly time.

Liam Spence, 14, had a full programme in the para category. He took 2 secs off his 100m free, 3rd place and 4 sec pb in the 100m back. Silver medal and a 5 sec pb in the 400m free, 3rd place in the 200m IM and 50m free.

Junior B

In a great effort Joshua Wormald,12, achieved a top ten finish in the 100m back, swimming in a time of 1.09.87, setting a new 1 sec pb and taking 8th place. Josh also set a new pb in the 50m fly, taking 2 secs off his previous time.

Ryan Porter ,12, had an outstanding swim in the 100m back, setting a new time of 1.12.95 to take the bronze medal. Ryan knocked 2 secs from his 50m back time to finish in 33.9, taking 5th place, and a 7th place finish in the 200m back with a new time of 2.38.11.

Finlay Gowan,12, set a new pb in the 200m back in his fist time competing at the NER’s. Finlay knocked 1 sec from his previous time to finish in 2.43.20.

In her first time in this competition, Grace Risipn ,12, shaved a fraction of a second from her previous 100m freestyle time, to finish in 1.06.32.
