Kingston Upon Hull Swimming Club held its 2nd Gala of the season first in the New Year. Swimmers returned in fine form, the chocolate coins and advent calendar sweets thankfully didn’t affect performance.
Tadpoles Squad
Girls 7 and under Amelia Barrett, 7, took gold in the 25m free swimming for the first time, Olivia Rozenbroek, 7, gained a silver medal in the 25m free and a bronze medal in the 25m back knocking 9 seconds off, Brook Jessop, 7, swimming for the first time took home a silver in the 25m back and bronze in the 25m free, Rose Julian, 7, knocked off a whopping 14 second and took gold in the 25m back and 4th place in the 25m free.
8 Years and over Martha Stawicka, 10, swam her first gala coming in 1st place in both her races taking gold in the 25m free and 25m back , Summer Rose ,11, gained a 4 second pb in the 25m free taking silver in the 25m free and a big 7 second pb in the 25m back taking bronze, Ruby Byram , 9, went home with the silver in the 25m back and a 1 second pb, also coming in 5th place in the 25m free also with a 1 second pb, Coby Spence, 9, took bronze in the 25m free and coming in 5th place with a 3 second pb in the 25m back, Orla Caine, 9, took 4th place in the 25m back taking home a finishing medal, Heidi Sage, 9, came 6th in the 25m back also taking home a finishing medal, Ruby Devine, 9, took 4th place taking home a medal in the 25m free, Daisy Farrar, 8, knocked off 1 second and coming in 6th place in the 25m free.
Boys 7 and under Myles Higinbotham, 7, took gold in both his races 25m free and 25m back, Tyler Byram, 7, swam for the first time taking silver in the 25m free and bronze in the 25m back. William Farrar, 6, also swam for the first time went home with the silver in the 25m back and bronze in the 25m free, 8 years and over Joshua mcCollin ,9, took gold and a 1 second pb in the 25m free and a 2 second in the 25m back and 1st place.
Jack Collins, 8, came 2nd in the 25m back taking silver and 5th place in the 25m free, Bradley Hudson, 10, gained a 3 second pb and a bronze medal in the 25m back and a 2 second pn in the 25m free and 3rd place, Harry Coates,8, took 2nd place and a 2 second pb in the 25m free taking silver, Reece Sugden ,11, came 4th in the 25m free and took 6th place in the 25m back taking home 2 finishing medals, Oliver Caine, 9, knocked 2 seconds off his time coming in 5th place in the 25m back, Macintyre Spence, 9, came 6th in the 25m free taking home a finishing medal, Nathan Brown, 11, Swam for the first time coming in 4th place in the 25m back.
Junior D Squad
Boys Open 200m Free Style
In the 9 years and under, Marco Longwa took 1st place and a gold medal swimming 3:52.69, Markuss Justovics claimed silver, 4:15.79.
The under 10’s was a close affair with three of the Junior D squad only 5 seconds apart. Leon Walton, 3:45.31. William Callanan, 348:19. Keiran Kipling, 3:50.34. Zac Kareem, 4:15.37.
Girls Open 200m Free Style
In the 9 years and under, Olivia swam a strong time in the 200m free at her 1st attempt at this distance in a time of 3.46.50 to claim a gold medal. Codie Winter Robinson took silver with 4:21.75. Aoife Curran-Smirk swam a great 4:27.75 for a bronze medal on her first 200m Free.
The 10 years age group had three Junior D girls competing. Isabelle Bennett, 3:48.13. Elise Waltham, 4:22.81 & Mia Hudson, 4:30.78.
The 11 years age group also saw three Junior D girls, Sophia Barnett smashed her PB by 22 second with 3:57.69. Amy Curtis, 3:58.78 & Evie Coates swimming a 4:17.81
Age 12/13 years, Emma Large swam 3:48.62 and Holly Boreham, 4:17.07.
Boys Open 50m Breast Stroke
In the boys 9 years and under Marco Longwa took his second gold of the gala with an impressive time, 1:02.34. Evan Russell claimed silver, 1:12.34. Markuss Justovics bagged the bronze, 1:19:91 and Landy Kadir came forth, 1:26.64.
The 10 years and under age group was a tight event. William Callanan swimming a slender PB, 1:00.69 to for silver. Leon Walton won bronze, 1:04.50. Zac Kareem swam, 1:11.03 and Kieran Kipling swam, 1:17.09.
Girls Open 50m Breast Stroke.
In the girls 9 years and under Olivia Harris took gold with a 3 sec PB in the 50m breaststroke in a time of 59.75. In second was Aoife Curran-Smirk, 1:13.13 and Codie Winter Robinson swimming her first 50m Breast in 1:31.06.
10 years age group saw three Junior D girls. Isabelle Bennett, 102.88. Elise Waltham, 1:07.31 and Mia Hudson 1:22.93.
11 years age, Evie Coates, 1:07.44 & Sophia Barnett, 1:13.10.
Boys Open 100m IM
Leon Walton pipped William Callanan to 1st place on his 1st 100m IM with a 1:55.00. William touching a fingertip behind with 1:56.81 for silver. Zac Kareem, 2:02.94 was enough for him to take the bronze home. Evan Rusell and Kieran Kipling both came in at 2:05.19. Markuss Justovics swam a 2;10.62.
Girls Open 100m IM
Olivia Harris achieved a 1 second PB to take gold, 153:94. Isabelle Bennett followed closely with 1:54.66 for silver whilst Holly Boreham claimed bronze swimming 1:56.84. Sophia Barnett, 2:00.97. Evie Coates, 2:05.25. Carrie-Anne Nurden, 2:07.97. Elise Waltham, 2:12.19. Emma Large, 2:17.44. Victoria Sibova, 2:18.78. Aoife Curran-Smirk, 2:19.00. Codie Winter-Robinson, 2:22.75. Bethany Pinder, 2:24.22 & Mia Hudson, 2:24.81.
Junior C Squad
10 yr old Daniel Pollard struck Gold in 50m Breastroke 51.71 (2 sec PB), silver in 200 IM 3:30:96 (10 sec PB) followed by Silver in 200 Freestyle 3:05:40 (15 sec pb)
9 yr old Emily Afiya Rickinson took Gold in 200 IM 3:47:56 (7 sec PB) Gold in 50m Breastroke 59.00 (2 sec PB) and Silver in 200m Freestyle 3;18;32 (13 sec PB)
9 yr old Jessica Mccollin took Silver in 50m Breastroke 59.19, Bronze in 200 IM 4:06, and 4th place in 200m Freestyle 3:32
Henri Kingdom,9, competed in 100m fly for the first time in a respectable time of 1:58.70 and finished the 200m free in 2:58.70 took the gold and achieved a YQT.
Catherine Fee, 11, swan in fine form and achieve a massive Pb in the 200m I.M. and another in the 100m fly.
Junior B Squad
Lily Tate, 13, had a another great gala taking bronze in both the 100m fly and 50m breast, in which she also got a P.B. Hollie McMullen,13, knocked 3secs from her previous time to set a new pb in the 100m fly.
Anya Betts,13, sliced 4 secs off her 200m free to finish in 2.47. 94. In a great afternoons swimming, Morgan Gronow, set three new pb’s across her three events, knocking 4.8 secs off her 200m free to finish in 3.09.00. Morgan also smashed 7 secs from her 200m IM setting a new time of 3.36,69. Grace Rispin,12, set two new pb’s in her four events. Grace knocked a second off her 100m fly, and 2 secs off her 200m IM, clocking a finish time of 2.42. Phoebe Tomlinson,12, knocked a great 7 secs from her previous time in the 100m fly to finish in1.34.34. A three sec pb followed in the 200m free, setting a new time of 2.43.87, and a third pb in the 200m IM saw Phoebe finish in 3.03.25.
Izzy Hextall,10, took part in 3 races. She swam to gold medal position in the 200m IM and 100m fly, and set a new 5 second pb in 200m free, again taking gold. Tayla Ross,10, swam in four races. Tayla took gold in the 50 breast, and silver medal positions in the 200m IM, 200m free and 100m fly.
Scarlett Lees,11, knocked a second from her 200m free, clocking a new time of 2.54.69. Another pb in the 100m fly and a time of 1.48.37 was an 8th place finish for Scarlett. Scarlett took silver medal in the 50 breast in a time of 46.13. Abbie Harris,10, came away with 1 silver and 2 bronze medals from her 3 races. Abbie set a new a 4 sec pb in the 200m free finishing in 2.59, and took bronze in the 200m IM.
Finlay Gowan,12, raced to gold medal position in the 200m free. Finlay’s success continued with silver in the 200m IM, silver in the 50m breast and finally gold in 100m fly, a time of 1.20.94 was a 6 sec pb and a Yorkshire qualifying time.
Isaac Blain,10, set a 4 secpb in the 200m IM to finish in 3.22.50, taking the gold medal. Two more golds followed, in the 100m fly and the 200m free, then silver in the 50m breast in a time of 55.53.
Regional A Squad
Regional A boys had a successful afternoon with 14 year old Michael Hill improving his time on 200m IM, 100m fly and 200m free by 2 secs. He finished this off by taking the bronze medal in the 50m breast. John Adams, 14,continued to improve his performance, he swam in 100m fly, 200m free, 200m IM and 50m breast. He took silver and improved his time in the breast stroke, and took 2 secs off his 200m IM.
Ethan Kingdom, 15, produced some fine swims to take 3rd place in 200m IM, 100m fly and 200m free. Matthew Dixon, 14, swam in the 200m free, 50mbreast and 200m IM where he took an impressive 8 secs off his best time.
Jake Conlon ,14, took gold in the 50m breast, and silver in the 200m IM as well as a good performance in 200m free. While Mitchell Davis ,15, achieved a 3 sec pb in 200m IM, a 3rd place in 100m fly and a pb in the 50m breast.
Brothers 19 year old Karmand and 16 year old Kaso Kareem were also in the medals with Karmand taking 3rd place in 50m breast and Kaso 2nd in the same race. They also swam in 200mIM and 200m free.
For the girls Anna Rogerson, 14, had a fantastic afternoon, improving her times in 200m IM, 200 free and 50m breast. Molly Marritt, 14, also continues to improve taking 3rd place in 50m breast, and producing impressive swims in 200m IM and 200 free. 18 year old Emma Beadle looked a little more like her old self with a couple of good swims in 200m free and 50m breast. Fellow senior swimmer Hannah Willingham, 17, swam in all 4 events taking 2nd place in 50m breast, and 3rd in 200m IM, as well as competing in 200m free and 100m fly.
Jolie Bull,13, swam in 200m free and 100m fly taking 5 secs off her fly. Another 5 secs came from Hollie Mendoza ,14, for her 50m breast, following good swims in 200m IM and 200m fc.
Melissa Machin, 16, competed in all 4 events with 3 third place medals in 100m fly, 200m free and 50m breast. Amy Greenacre, 16 , improved her times in all of her events, 200m free, 50m breast and 2 secs off her 200m IM.
Further personal best times came from 15 year old Megan Batterbee, who swam in all 4 events and improved her times in 100m fly and 200m free. Katy Greenacre, 13, competed in 200 m free, 200m IM and 50m breast, she took 2 secs off her breast and shaved time off her 200m IM.
Great effort also produced by Natasha Clark, 16, 200m IM, 200m free and 50m breast. Ruby Willingham,13, 200m IM, 200m free and 50m breast and Emily Tate ,15, 50m breast stroke.
Junior A Squad
Junior A swimmers gave strong performances to take home an array of medals.
Megan Gray, 13, claimed gold in all her 3 races including 200m I.M. 200m free & 100m fly.
In the Girls 14/15yrs age group, Ellie Hextall,13, secured gold in 50m Breast; silver & PB in 200m free as well as Silver in 100m fly and Bronze in 200m IM. Lily Hawkard, 13, clinched silver in the 200m IM and Bronze in 200m Freestyle.
In the Boys 14/15 yrs age group, Alex Everson, 13, had a successful gala taking gold in 200m IM and 100m fly and Silver with a 4 second PB in 200m Freestyle.
Carter Lees, 13yrs, produced a PB to achieve 3rd place in 100m fly and 2 further Bronze medals in 200m IM and 200m free as well as 4th place in50m breast.
