Event : Rotherham Metro Meet 2016

Course : Long Course – 50 metre.

KUHSC attended the Rotherham Metro , long course meet at Sheffields Ponds Forge on 23/24th January 2016., there was tough competition from clubs spanning from The Midlands to the North East but KUHSC swimmers hard work placed them No. 1 club of the weekend.

Junior C Squad

Catherine Fee, 11, was outstanding in her performance over the weekend, she swam in 8 races and achieved 8 pb’s totalling 50 seconds.

10 yr old Bethan Candlin Didn’t let a month off stop her from having a fantastic 2 days at Pond’s Forge . She won B Golds in 100m free, and 200m breast, and B Silvers in 100m and 200m breast and achieved 7 pb’s.

9 yr old Billy Greenacre achieved a 14 sec pb winning gold in 200m breast 3:57:38 ,also Bronze in 100m back 1:41:81 (8 sec pb), 4th in 200m free 3:14:32, and 4th in 100m free 1:34:18 (4 sec pb)

Henri Kingdom, 9, swam in his first long course meet and went home with a smile, 3 bronze, 4 silver and a gold medal.

10yr old Daniel Pollard Struck a treble of B Golds in 100m breast 1:54:91, 50m breastroke 51:83, and 200m Breast 4:04:58 (27 sec pb). He also had 4th in 200m back 3:15:92, 5th in 200m free 3:01:69 (20 sec pb), 6th in 100m back 1:32:96 (7 sec pb), and 7th in 50m free 36:65 (pb)

Junior B Squad

Izzy Waudby,12, had an outstanding gala, setting 6 new pb’s across the weekends racing. In a fantastic race Izzy achieved her NER time in her 200m back, clocking a time of 2.44.49 smashing her previous time by 7 secs. A second NER time followed in the 100m back, with a 2 sec pb and a time 1.17.64. Izzy also showed some fantastic improvements with PB’S in the 50m Free, time of 31.56 (2 second pb), 100m Breast time of 1.43.38 (2second pb), 100m Free time of 1.09.86 (3 second pb) and her 200m free time of 2.36.74 (7 second pb)

Maisie Foster,13, put in a great performance and set 5 new pb’s. A 1 sec pb in the 50m free saw Maisie achieve her YQT, in a time of 31.27. Her second YQT came in the 100m free with another second pb and a time of 1.08.00. Maisie knocked 4 secs off her previous 200m free time (2.29.48), and sliced 5 secs from her 100m back to finish in 1.23.10. A 4 sec pb in the 200m free rounded off a great weekends swimming.

Another outstanding performance from Izzy Hextall,10, resulted in 4 pb’s in her free events and her 100m backstroke, 4 speeding tickets and a silver and bronze medal.

Anya Betts, 12, had a successful gala, gaining 5 new pb’s over the weekend. Anya knocked 1 sec from her 50m freestyle, 2 secs off her 100m free and 2 secs from her 100m breast In a great race Anya sliced another 2 secs from her 100m back time to finish in 1.23.09

Lowenna Bainbridge, 14, swam strongly to take the b grade gold medal in the 100m freestyle, with a 2 sec pb and a new time of 1.13.43. Lowenna’s 1 second pb in the 50m free was a b grade 4th place finish. More great performances followed, with another second sliced off in the 100m breas, and a 6th place finish in the 100m back.

Lily Tate,12, put in a valiant effort across the weekends swimming, despite missing training recently, and was rewarded with a grade B gold in 50m back. Libby Akrill,11, had a great weekend, gaining 4 pb’s. Libby knocked 1 sec off her 50m free to finish in 34.19, followed by a fantastic 7 sec pb in the 100m breast with a time of 1:37.87. 5 sec came off Libby’s 200m back (3:05.05 ) finishing with the 50m breast and a time of 45.36 a 4 sec PB.

Phoebe Tomlinson,12, raced to the b grade gold medal position in the 50m free, shaving a second from her previous time to finish in 35.85. B grade silver followed the 100m back with a 3.5 sec pb and a new time of 1.25.50. Pb’s followed for Phoebe in the 100m and 200m free, with a 3.5 second pb and a time of 2.45.50 in the 200m event.

Hollie McMullen,12, knocked 3 secs from her 50m free time to finish in 35.09. Hollie then knocked an amazing 6 secs from her 100m breast and smashed 7 secs from her 100m frees to finish in 1.17.72.

Grace Rispin ,12, put in a fantastic performance across all her events. Grace gained 2 bronze and 1 gold medal over the weekend, and achieved 2 NER times, only narrowly missing a 3rd.

Tayla Ross,10, swam to 6 new pb’s and gained 2 bronze medals, 2 fourth place and 2 fifth place finishes. Tayla took bronze in the 200m back with a new time of 3.07.95, and in the 100m free with a new pb of 1.18.64.

Scarlett Lees,11, had a great swim in the 100m free, with a new pb and a time of 1.20.31 taking the silver medal. PB’s continued for Scarlett in the 100m back, 100m breast, and the 200m free with a 6th place finish in the 200m back in a time of 3.19.06.

Mawgan Bainbridge,13, smashed his previous times in a great gala. Mawgan sliced 8 secs from his 100m free to finish in 1.17.250 and take 4 th place. Mawgan raced to the b grade bronze in the 200m free with his 4 second pb, and another bronze in the 200m back with another 8 sec pb and a time of 3.02.90. A 3 sec pb in the 50m free was a second place finish for Mawgan and a silver medal, followed by another two 7 sec pb’s in the 100m backstroke and the 100m breast.

Benjamin Shipley,13, had a fantastic weekend swimming in 6 events and gaining impressive pbs in all races. An 11sec pb in the 200m back with a new time of 2.36 earned him an A grade bronze. Equally impressive was a 3 sec pb with a new time of 29.51sec in 50m free earned him an A grade silver. Benjamin finished the weekend with a B grade gold in the 100m breast gaining a 7 sec pb and a new time of 1min 30sec.

Finlay Gowan,12, put in strong performances across all of his races. Finlay achieved 6 pb’s, knocking a fantastic 15 secs from his 100m breast time to finish in 1.35.96 and take the bronze medal.

Ryan Porter,12, had a successful gala, racing to gold medal position on the 100m backstroke with a time of 1.14.35 and a 2 sec pb. Ryan achieved another gold medal in the 50m breast with a 5 sec pb and a time of 45.88. Two silvers followed in the 100m free (1.07.60) and the 200m back (2.41.16). Ryan also set new pb’s in the 200m 50m free.

Junior A Squad

Alex Everson’s best race came in the 200m Butterfly event where he produced an impressive 5 second long course PB in a time of 2:28:49 taking Gold. He also claimed Silver and new 14 year old NER time in 200m Backstroke as well as PB’s and Bronze medals in both 100m Butterfly and 100m Backstroke, with further PB’s achieved in the 100m and 200m Freestyle events.

Molly Green produced a 9 second PB and NER time with an outstanding swim in the 200m Breaststroke coming in 1st place. Molly achieved 2 further NER times and PB’s in 200m Butterfly taking Bronze and 100m Breaststroke clinching Silver. Further PB’s were claimed in 50m Breaststroke, 200m freestyle and Bronze with PB in 100m Butterfly.

Frances Luckup enjoyed a good weekend swimming her way to success with 4 Gold medals in 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke events and 200m Freestyle. Frances also took home Silver medals in 100m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly as well as Bronze and PB in 50m freestyle.

Regional A Squad

Swimmers from Regional A made up the majority of KUHSC on the weekend and those who represented, cheered the loudest and proudest for their team and swan their part to achieve Top Club were :

13 year old Jolie Bull,Ruby Willingham Katie Greenacre, 14 year olds Matthew Dixon, John Adams, Michael Hill, Jake Conlon, Anna Rogerson, Hollie Mendoza, Abegail Feehaly, Molly Marritt ,Megan Batterbee and Madelain Tait.

In the 15’s and over Ethan Kingdom, Liam Spence, Mitchell Davis, James Tether, Kennedy Akrill, Emma Newmarch, Melissa Machni, Natasha Clark, Amy Greenacre, Hannah Willingham and brothers Kaso & Karmond.
