Kingston Upon Hulls National squad training camp, Cyprus

Thursday February 14, Kingston Upon Hulls National squad held a training camp at Coral Beach Resort, Paphos, Cyprus .

Over the 7 days out there the aim was to benefit from long course training in a warm environment, they completed over 64km in 10 sessions while in Cyprus. It was a beautiful place to visit and everyone there really enjoyed the experience and opportunity.

Kingston Upon Hull Swimming club would like to thank the Cyprus Tourist Organization has provided subsidies for the trip and Sports Abroad has helped arrange the trip.

The Hull Regional Qualifier Meet which is being held on Saturday 6th October and Sunday 7th October 2018 has been an excellently subscribed and all sessions are now full.  KUHSC would like to thank all of the clubs that have entered and look forward to seeing you all there.

Amy Corcoran produced a dominating performance to win the Women’s 16 Years 200m Breaststroke at the Swim England National Summer Meet.

The KingstonHull swimmer led from the front and touched home 2.97 seconds ahead of her nearest rival to take the gold medal at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge.

She finished in a time of 2:41.36, with Royal Wolverhampton School’s Katie Hawkins second in 2:44.33.

Kingston Upon Hull Swimming Club held its 6th Club Gala of the season at Ennerdale Leisure Centre on 11th June 2016 Some brave swimmers attempted the gruelling 200m Butterfly for the first time.

Tadpoles Squad

Girls 7 and under.

Amelia Barrett, 7, gained a massive 6 sec pb in the 25m breast taking gold in both 25m free and breast. Ruby Greenacre, 7, took home the silver medal in the 25m free and a 1 second pb. Mia Hopkins, 6, gained a bronze medal in the 25m free and 6th place in the 25m breast. Brooke Jessop 7 achieved bronze in the 25m breast and took 5th place in the 25m free. Grace Wydell ,7, went home the silver medal in the 25m breast and then took 5th place in the 25m free. Rose Julian, 7, and Esmae Makey, 7, both took home finishing medals rose coming 6th and Esmae taking 7th.

Girls 7 years +

Keira Munkley, 8, took gold in the 15m breast. And silver in the 25m free gaining a 2 second pb. Millie Salmon, 8, achieved a 1 second pb in the 25m free gaining a gold medal she also took 4th place in the 25m breast. Georgina Kitney, 8 ,took home silver in the 25m breast she then went onto gain a 1 second pb and 6th place in the 25m free. Orla Caine, 8, took bronze in the 25m free and 5th place in the 25mb breast. Coby Spence, 9, added a bronze medal to her collection in the 25m breast with a 1 second pb and taking 5th place in the 25mfree. Lii-sue Stone, 9, took 4th place in the 25m free also taking a 1 second pb. Jessica Harrison, 8, swam in the 25m breast coming in 6th place.

Boys 7 and under

Luca Alghoul, 7, took gold in both his races 25m breast and 25m free also taking a 2 second pb in the free. Myles Higinbotham, 7, gained a silver medal in the 25m free and achieving a 1 second pb. Tyler Byram, ,7 gained 2 more medals for his collection taking silver in the 25m breast and bronze in the 25mfree. Max Burnett, 6, went home with the bronze medal in the 25m breast and 5th place in the 25m free.

7 Years +

Harry Braimbridge, 10, Gained an impressive 6 second pb and took gold in the 25m breast he also took gold in the 25m free. Elliot Middlemass ,9, went home with the silver medal in the 25m free with a 1 second pb also taking 5th place in the 25m breast. Reece Sugden, 11, took a massive 5 seconds off is time in the 25m breast gaining the silver medal. Luke Robinson, 8, gained the bronze medal in the 25m breast. Liam Jackson, 9, achieved a whopping 9 second pb in the 25m breast taking 6th place he also gained the bronze medal in the 25m free. Jakub Stawicki, 8, took 4th place and a 4 second pb in the 25m breast and also 4th place and a 1 second pb in the 25m free. Oliver Caine, 9, took 5th place in the 25m free and Bradley Hudson, 10, took 6th place and a 1 second pb in the 25m free.

Junior D Squad

Event 3 Girls Open 400m Freestyle – 09 YRS / Under Age Group.

Olivia Harris picked up where she left off on CG5 by taking gold swimming, 7:25.68. Aoife Curran – Smirk on her 400 debut won silver, 8:15.95.

Event 3 Girls Open 400m Freestyle – 10 YRS Age Group.

Isabelle Bennett, 7:41.07 & Mia Hudson, 7:53.09.

Olivia Harris swam a consecutive club record for an 8-year-old in a time of 1:41.40 in the 100 IM collecting gold. Well Done Olivia, another great achievement. Holly Boreham swam 1:41.50 for silver. Event 8 Boys Open 100 IM

Marc Homan swam an impressive 1:42.19 for a gold medal. William Callanan took silver, 1:48.90. Markus Justovics pushed hard and took bronze, 1:54.91. Joshua McCollin, only just outside the medals with a strong swim, 1:56.69.

Event 11 Girls Open 50m Backstroke – 09 YRS / Under Age Group.

Olivia Harris made it a clean sweep of golds for CG6 swimming 50.47 for top spot. Jessica Teasdale hot on Olivia tail only a second behind for silver, 51.47. Aoife Curran – Smirk claimed her second medal of CG6 swimming 1:00.32. Ruby Byram, 1:00.50 & Bethany Pinder 1:01.00.

Event 11 Girls Open 50m Backstroke – 10 YRS Age Group.

Junior C Squad

9-year-old Heidi Porter took Silver in her first ever 400m free 6:52:19 and a bronze in 50m back 48:27 and a 7 sec PB.

Jessica Mccollin took Bronze in her first 400m free 6:58:50 and Gold in 50m back 42:56 (Yorkshire Q time)

10 yr old Billy Greenacre swimming his first 400m Freestyle took silver 6:18:25

10 yr old Eva Julian took 4th in her first 400m Freestyle 7:16:62 and Silver in 50m Backstroke 47.94 1 sec PB.

10 yr old Daniel Pollard achieved Silver in his first 400m free 6:16:93

10 yr old Emily Afiya Rickinson won Gold in her first 400m free 6:27:80

Catherine fee had a 6 sec PB in 400m free 5:43:72, and a 5 sec PB in 50m back.

13 yr old Katie Jackson achieved a 5 sec PB in 400m free 6:21:85.

Henri Kingdom, 9, took swam an impressive 400m free and took the gold as he did in the 50m back too.

Junior B Squad

Lily Tate,13, had an amazing gala, swimming a five second pb in 400m free in 5.15.13, to gain a bronze medal. Lily also gained a 3 second pb in 50m back, finishing in 37.69.

Anya Betts,12, swam strongly in the 50m back to take the bronze medal, finishing in 36.68, a one second pb. A 17 second pb in the 400m free resulted in 7th place in 5.33.47.

Amy Kitching ,12, knocked 17 secs from her 400m free to take 8th place in 5.37.17. Another 4 sec pb in the 50m back was another 8th place finish in 39.75.

Scarlett Lees ,11, smashed her previous time in the 400m free by 26 secs, finishing in 5.52.56 taking 13th place.

Clementine Lovel,13, had a fantastic gala, taking home two gold medals. Clementine matched her pb in the 400m free to finish in 4.45.00 taking first place. Clementine then knocked 2 secs from her 50m back time for another first place finish in 32.32

Maisie Foster ,14, swam strongly over her two events. A 10 sec pb in the 400m free and Maisie raced to silver medal position in 4.57. A first place finish followed in the 50m back, with a three sec pb and a time of 35.00 bagging the gold medal.

Izzy Waudby,13, took home three medals from her three events. A huge 24 sec pb in the 400m freestyle resulted in silver in 5.11.31, followed by another silver medal in the challenging 200m fly in 3.22.00. Finally a third silver in the 50m back with a 0.5 second pb and a time of 35.82

Lillie May Wilkinson,14, had a roller coaster day with a slow start in her 400m free style adding 7 secs on, this was followed by a fantastic 200mrfly, her first attempt at this difficult event, winning the overall heat and completing in 3:00.55, to take the gold medal. Finally a strong swim in the 50m back resulted in a two second PB and 4th place.

Hollie McMullen,12, knocked 14 secs from her 400m free in 5.25.50 gaining 5th place in the 12/13 years group. A 3 second pb in the 50m back in 39.13 resulted in 6th place.

Isobel Shimells ,11,managed a massive 5 sec pb to gain a gold in the 200m fly in a time of 3:13.84. She also swam 400m free, 4th place in a time of 5:25.06 and 50m backstroke, 4th place with a time of 37.56.

Tayla Ross,10, took the 400m freestyle gold in 5.28.81, a 22 second pb. Tayla also took gold in the 50m back with 37.68, 3 second pb

Abbie Hill,14, competed in the 400m free finishing with a PB of 5.16.22 secs, and the 50m back finishing in a PB of 37.8 secs, gaining her the Bronze medal.

Josh Wormald,14, gained three new pb’s from his three events. Josh raced to gold medal position in the 50 backstroke in a time of 32.41, a three second pb and an NER time. A second place finish in the 200 fly with a great 8 second pb resulted in the silver medal, and in the 400 freestyle Josh knocked another 11 seconds from his previous time.

Benjamin Shipley,13, swimming in 14/15 age group competed in 2 events. A 1 sec pb in the 400m free won him a silver and a 3 sec pb in the 50m back again won him another well-earned silver.

Finlay Gowan ,13, took home two gold medals and one bronze, gaining three Yorkshire qualifying times and swimming all his races within NER times. A great swim in the 400m freestyle saw Finlay set a new time of 4.47.06 to take first place. Another first place finish followed in the 200m fly in 2.46.93, finishing the day with a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke in 35.19.

Ryan Porter ,13, sliced 7 secs from his 400m free time to finish in 5.02.11 and take the bronze medal. Another pb followed ion the 50m back, setting a new time of 33.25, taking first place and the gold medal.

Mason Bland ,12, competed in the 200m fly for the first time, finishing in 3.19.36, taking bronze. Two fourth place finishes followed in the both the 50m back (35.34) and the 400m freestyle (5.14.56).

Regional A & B Squad

In the girl’s races, on form Megan Batterbee, 15, reduced her time in the 400m free by 7 secs and took the silver medal in the 200m fly. 17 year old Hannah Willingham competed in the 400m free and 50m back, taking gold in both events. Jolie Bull, 14, swam in the 400m free and 50m back, coming 3rd in the free with a 5 sec pb. Newcomer Olivia Hathway recorded her first ever time in 400m free and improved her time in 50m back by 2 secs. Molly Marritt, 15, swam in 400m free and 50m back, and 14 year old Iyanna Purdy in the 400m free. Regional B swimmer, Shona Thurston also 14 improved her time in the 400m free by 6 seconds.

For the boys, 15-year-old Michael Hill took the gold medal and recorded his first time in 200m fly, he also swam in 50m back. Logan Young 16 took the silver medal and recorded another first time in 200m fly. Impressively Logan reduced his time in 400m free by 28 secs with another silver medal. Not to be outdone, Liam Spence, 16, swimming the 200m fly for the first time also came 1st, as well as getting a pb in the 50m back and a 7 second improvement in 400m free. Ethan Kingdom, 15 won 2 bronze medals for the 400m free and 50m back with a pb in the backstroke. 15 year old Jake Conlon swam in the 50m back and 400m free with a 7 sec pb in the freestyle. New to regional B Matthew Blain competed in the 50m back with a 2 second improvement.

LiamSpence_2016

Event : British Para-Swimming International 2016
Date : Saturday – Wednesday of 23rd to 27th April 2016
Location : Glasgow

Kingston upon Hull’s swimming club’s International para swimmer Liam Spence (15), travelled up to Scotland to compete in the International meet at Glasgow. This gala was the team GB’s last chance to qualify for the para Olympics in Rio. Liam swimming in the S14 category was competing against swimmers from all over the world.

Liam swam in a number of races over 5 day competition. On the Saturday Liam swam in the 100m freestyle knocking 1.80 seconds off his personal best in a time of 1.01.32. Liam then went on to race in the 100m breaststroke, were in the heats he clocked a 1.13 second pb, which Qualified him for the evenings Final. In the final Liam knocked off a further 1.20 seconds off his pb wth a time of 1.20.79.

On the Sunday Liam achieved 1st place in the 100m back stroke heats in a time that qualified him for the final in the evening, where Liam took a massive 4 ½ seconds of his personal best time.

On the Monday Liam competed in the 100m fly were he improved his time by 1.13 seconds he then followed that race with the 50m fly taking ½ second off his pb time.

On the Tuesday Liam swam in the 200m freestyle were he took 2.13 seconds off his pb, then went into the final and took a further 2.10 seconds off his pb time.

On final day of the competition, Liam competed in the 200m Individual Medley, in the heats Liam posted a time which qualified him for the evenings Final were in the Final Liam took a massive 3.22 second of his pb in a time of 2.32.85

Course : Long Course – 50 metre.

Kingston Upon Hull Swimming Club under 15’s high achievers attended the North East Regional Qualifiers in May 2016, at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. Their performances shone with the amount of top 10 finishes they achieved.

National Squad

Competing in the fourteen-year-old age group was Joe Basdeo-Taylor who won three gold medals and a bronze. He swam personal bests to win the finals of the 200 Butterfly (2.20. 09), 400IM (4.57.30) and 200IM (2.20.39), performances which have qualified him to compete in the British Summer Championships. He also took the bronze medal in the 100 Butterfly in a time of 1.04.06 and seventh place in the final of the 200 Breast Stroke.

Junior A Squad

Megan Gray’s, 13, hard work and determination was rewarded with the top prize of entry to the British Championships after an amazing swim in the 400m Freestyle event, coming in 2nd place in the final with a 2 second PB. Megan achieved further Home Nations qualifications and Silver medals in 800m, 100m and 200m Freestyle events with PB’s in both 100m and 200m Freestyle. A further Silver and PB was clinched in 50m Freestyle with more PB’s secured in 200m Backstroke, 200m IM (Individual Medley) and 100m Butterfly.

Amy Corcoran, 14, was equally outstanding achieving Two British Championship qualifications in the 400m IM securing Silver and PB in 5.12.92 and 200m Breaststroke in 2.43.40 with PB, taking Bronze medal. Amy also qualified for the Home Nations in both the 200m IM in 2.28.41 with PB and Bronze and 100m Breaststroke in 1.17.94 with PB and 4th place in the final. In a further 2 finals she came in 10th place with PB in 50m Breaststroke and 8th place in 50m Butterfly.

Alex Everson, 14, started the championships with his best race, 200m Butterfly coming in 4th place in the final, achieving Home Nations qualification with a time of 2.24.16. Alex went on to take 4th place in the 200m Backstroke final after an exceptional swim in the heat in a time of 2.25.06. His first attempt at Long Course 400m IM secured him 6th place in the final with PB in 5.20.66, followed by a total 12 seconds( LC) PB in 400m Freestyle coming in 7th place in the final ending with 8th place in 100m Butterfly final.

Ellie Hextall, 14, produced some brilliant swims, her best being the 100m Freestyle securing PB and Bronze in 101.64 giving her one of two qualifications for the Home Nations. Her 2nd, being the 200m Freestyle where she came 4th in the final. Ellie also took 7th place in 50m freestyle final and 9th in 400m Freestyle.

Lily Hawkard, 14, excelled at the NER’s qualifying for 6 finals and achieving 3 Home Nation qualifications in 400m IM, 100m and 200m Butterfly events. Lily PB’d in all events and took Bronze medal in 100m Butterfly.

Frances Luckup, 14, gave an excellent performance in the 400m Freestyle coming in 7th place in the final in 4.42.45, securing a 7.5 second PB. Frances also Pb,d and took 8th place in the 200m Freestyle final; 10th place in the 200m Backstroke final , finishing with PB in 100m Freestyle.

Grace Rispin ,13, produced some great swims achieving PB’s in all 4 races including 200 and 400m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke and 200m IM.

Carter Lees, 13, produced determined and strong swims, his best being in 100m Backstroke achieving a well-deserved PB in a time of 1.12.31 coming in 7th place in the final. Carter then took 8th place in 200m Backstroke final and 10th place in 50m Backstroke with PB in 34.42 as well as PB in 400m Freestyle.

Molly Green, 12, enjoyed success with a well-earnt 3 second PB and 4th place in the 200m Breaststroke final; 6th place and PB in 100m Breaststroke; 2 second PB and 8th place in 200m IM and 9th place and 2 second PB in 400m IM.

Junior B Squad

Mason Bland,12, competed in three events, a 9 second pb in the 200m backstroke narrowly missed gold medal position. Another 2 pb’s in the 100m backstroke and 50m backstroke resulted in 5th and 6th place finishes.

Finlay Gowan,13, took bronze in the challenging1500m freestyle. Finlay also reached the finals in both the 200m backstroke and the 400m freestyle, with new pb’s in both, taking 6th and 9th place.

In his first summer NERs Josh Wormald,14, swam in the 400m IM, 200m backstroke, 100m backstroke and the 100m butterfly earning personal bests in 3 of the races.

Benjamin Shipley,13, swimming in the 14 year old category qualified for his first NER championship racing in 2 events. A qualifying time of 2.32.5 in the 200m backstroke was beaten in the heat with a time of 2.29.99 putting him 8th place. The final was another good time of 2.31.03 and he finished 9th overall.

Ryan Porter,13, took home 2 medals, a 2 second pb in the 100m backstroke saw Ryan take the bronze medal in 1.10.38, and a 3 second pb in the 50m back resulted in silver in 32.35. Another 3 second pb in the 200m Backstroke and Ryan finished in 5th place in 2.33.80.

Clementine Lovel,13, made the final of the 100m back and in a fantastic race took bronze in the 50m free, where her time of 28.05 qualified her for the 2016 British Championships in the 13/14 age group.

The KUHSC End Of Season Open Meet, being held at the Ennerdale Leisure Centre in Hull on the 2nd and 3rd July, has been very well subscribed and there are now only limited places left for this event. Please be quick and get your entries in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Millie Salmon, 8 , took gold in the 25m free and silver in the 25m back, Orla Caine, 8,Gained a 4 sec pb and took silver in the 25m free and a 3 sec and bronze in the 25m back, Alice Devine, 9, took the silver medal in the 25m free, Keira Munkley, 8 ,gained a gold medal in the 25m back and took 4th place in the 25m free, Coby Spence, 9, took 5th place in the 25m free, Eliza Morris, 9, took a massive 4 secs off her time coming 5th, Daisy Farrar, 8 ,took 6th place in both her races taking 2 secs off her 25m back.

Junior B Squad

Ryan Porter, 13, had a great weekend, setting 3 new pb’s, achieving 4 medal places. Ryan took one second from his 50m fly to take the gold medal in 34.84. A fantastic five secs sliced from his 200m IM saw Ryan set a new pb of 2.42.13 taking silver. Gold followed in the 100m free with a 1 sec pb in 1.05.63, finishing the weekend with bronze in the 200m breast.

Joshua Wormald, 13, remained on fantastic form taking home three medals from his three events. A two sec pb in the 200m IM resulted in second place in 2.33.25, another silver in the 200m breaststroke in 3.01.43, rounding off with bronze in the 50m fly.

Finlay Gowan, 13, put in a strong performance across his four races, A great six sec pb in the 200m IM saw Finlay take gold medal position in 2.39.25. Gold came in the 200m breast, followed by silvers and new pb’s in the 100m free (1.05.75) and the 50m fly (35.03).

Benjamin Shipley, 13, swam strongly, gaining two new pb’s from his 3 races. Ben came joint second in the 200m IM with a four second pb and took bronze medal in 200m breast in 3.07.88.

Lily Tate, 13, took home two medals from the afternoons swimming. Lily swam to bronze medal position in the 200m I.M and bagged a silver medal for 100m free.

Isobel Shimells, 11, swam in all 4 races for her age group and gained 3 golds and 1 silver, setting two new pb’s. Isobel swam to gold medal position in the 200m IM in a great time of 2.53.25, she also took gold in the 100m free, setting a new pb of 1.09.72. Another gold for Isobel in the 50m fly, followed by a pb and silver medal in the 200m breast.

Libby Akrill, 12, swam in the 100m Free in 1:12.66 a 4 sec PB, achieving the bronze medal and a winter Yorkshire Qualifying time. Libby sliced six seconds from her 200m breas in 3:20.93 taking the Gold medal. Libby finished her successful weekend with a seven second pb in the 50m fly in 40.97.

Maisie Foster, 14, had a great afternoon with four out of four pb’s 2 bronze and 1 silver medal, and a Yorkshire qualifying time. Maisie knocked 2 secs from her 200m IM to finish in 2.45.87, taking the bronze medal and a Yorkshire qualifying time. A second off her 100m free resulted in silver medal position in 1.07.94, followed by bronze in the 200m breast in 3.19.89. Finally a one sec pb in the 50m fly finishing in 38.43.

Anya Betts, 12, continued to improve on her previous times, setting three new pb’s in her three events. Anya sliced two seconds from her 200m IM time, three off her 50m fly, and in a strong performance knocked four seconds from her 100m free taking 8th place in 1.15.50.

Tayla Ross, 11, competed in 4 events, going home with 4 medals. A pb in the 200m IM resulted in the gold medal, silvers followed for Tayla in the 100m free and 200m breaststroke, finishing with another gold in the 50m fly.

Hollie McMullen,12, knocked a fantastic six secs from her 200m IM taking silver in 2.55.84. Hollie then knocked off 2 secs from her 50m fly swimming to bronze medal position in 39.56

Junior C Squad

9 year old Heidi Porter swam a 9 sec PB when taking Bronze in 50m Fly 50.25 secs, she then took another Bronze in 200IM with a 5 sec PB in 3:43:00, Silver in 200m Breastroke 4:39:87 and 5th in 100m freestyle 1:30:13.

9 year old Billy Greenacre took Silver in 200m IM taking 7 secs off his PB, then took Silver in 100m Freestyle with an 8sec PB of 1:25:07.

12 year old Katie Fee took 16 secs off her Pb in 200 Breastroke 3:46:12, and 1 sec from her Pb in 50m Fly 44:91 secs.

Henri Kingdom, 9, swam 200m IM in 3:10.63 a 5 sec pb and 1st place, 100m free in 1:19.56 6 sec pb and 1st place and the final race of the day 50m fly a 5 sec pb and a trio of gold medals and Yorkshire Qualifying times.

Regional A & B Squads

All of the regional boys had a fantastic gala, In the 16 and overs Mitchell Davis took silver in 200m IM with a 1 sec pb, silver in 100m free and 1 sec pb and 1st in 50m fly with 1 sec pb. James Tether came 3rd in 200 IM, 100m free and 50m fly taking 4 secs off his IM and 1 sec off 100 free. Liam Spence completed the older boys with 1st place 200m IM, 1st 100m free 1 sec pb, 1st 200m breast 9 sec pb and 3rd in 50m fly 3 sec pb.

Ethan Kingdom, 15, improved his 200m IM time by 5 secs and A YQT, he took 2nd place and 1 sec pb in 100m and a 1st in 50m fly with small pb Matthew Dixon improved all of his times, with an impressive 6 sec pb in 200m IM, 3 secs 100m free and 2 secs 200m breast.

Michael Hill swam well with a 2 sec improvement in 200mIM, 1.5 sec 100f free and equalled his 50m fly time. Jake Conlon swam in 2 events, coming 3rd in 100m free with a 3 sec pb and 200m breast where he took the gold medal. John Adams also took time off 2 of his events 2 seconds 100m free, a massive 9 seconds 200m breast, he came 2nd in 50m fly.

For the 16 and over girls Natasha Clark improved her 200m IM time by 1 second, equalled her 50m fly time, took the bronze medal in the 200m breast and improved her 100m free time. Kennedy Akrill took the silver medal in 200mIM, 100m free and 50mfly with a pb in the fly. Emma Beadle came 3rd in 200m IM, 50m fly and 100m free with a slight pb in the free, she also took 1st place in 200m breast.

For the younger girls, strong swims from Iyanna Purdy in 200m IM, 100m free and 200m breast. Also Jolie Bull in 100m and 50m fly. Amy Greenacre came 2nd in 100m free and 200m breast with an 8 sec pb in the breast, she followed this with a 3 sec pb in 50m fly. Megan Batterbee competed in 200mIM, 200m breast and 50m fly. She came 2nd in 200m breast with 2 sec pb and 3rd in 50m fly. Molly Marritt swam in 200m IM, 100m free and 200m breast, she improved her IM time by 2 secs. Hollie Mendoza,14, competed in all 4 events. With very impressive 8 sec improvements in 200mIM and 200m breast. Katy Greenacre took 3 seconds off her 200m IM and 2 off her 100m free. From regional B, Shona Thurston swam in 200 IM, 100m free and 50m fly. She improved her 100m free time and took 4 secs off the IM.

Junior A Squad

At the North East England Youth & Senior Swimming Championships in Sunderland, Kingston-upon-Hull’s Alex Stringer swam a Personal Best of 5.10.74 to win the bronze medal in the final of the 400m IM, a performance likely to qualify her to compete in the British Summer Championships at Sheffield. Although one of the younger girls in the event, fifteen-year old Alex knocked a further six seconds off a Personal Best she had set in the heat to challenge for the silver medal in a tense finish. She also reached the final of the 200m Breast Stroke in which she swam a Personal Best of 2.45.89 to finish sixth.

Lewis Collins,15, was another Kingston swimmer who had a good weekend achieving Personal Bests in the 400m (4.25.11), 100m (56.52) and 50m (26.08) Freestyle events and in the 200m Back Stroke (2.27.28). His performances in the Freestyle events are likely to qualify him to compete in the 15 year-old age group at the English Summer Championships.

In the Men’s 14-16 year-old relays a Kingston team featuring Lewis, Adam Alcock, Ben Parsons and Joe Basdeo-Taylor produced strong swims to finish fourth in the 4x100m Medley and fifth in the 4x100m and 4x200m Free-style events. In the Women’s 14-16 year-old relays a Kingston team of Aleah Ross, Ellie Hextall, Amy Corcoran and Frances Luckup swam well to finish fourth in the 4x100m and 4x200m Free-style events and a team of Hollie Verity, Alex Stringer, Amy Corcoran and Aleah Ross produced another good performance to finish fifth in the 4 x 100m Medley.

Regional A Squad

Three Regional A swimmers competed in the ASANER long course meet in Sunderland. Megan Batterbee , 50M backstroke, Liam Spence, 200m IM and 50 front crawl and Jake Conlon 200m backstroke. Jake improved his time by 3.5 seconds, and Liam managed a pb in both his races while Megan swam close to her recently acquired best time.

Alex Everson, 13, enjoyed a successful weekend, his best swim being the 200m Butterfly event where he clinched Silver in the final in 2.24.31. He went on to achieve Gold and PB in the 100m Butterfly final in 107.95; 4th place and PB in 200m Freestyle final and Silver and PB in the 200m Backstroke final finishing in 2.26.99.

Megan Gray, 13, had some excellent swims starting with the 800m Freestyle where she secured 2nd place, followed by the 200m Freestyle securing Gold in the final in 2.13.26. Another great swim came in the 100m Freestyle final achieving Gold in 1.02.28.

Lily Hawkard, 14, best race of the weekend came in the girls 100m Butterfly where she took Silver and PB in the final in 108.95. Lily achieved PB’s and qualified for finals in 5 more events including 200m IM and 100m Backstroke coming in 3rd place in both events.

Molly Green, 12, had some great swims including the 200m Butterfly wiping a massive 16 seconds off her PB, as well as a 2 second PB in 100m Butterfly and further PB in 50m Breaststroke.

Ellie Hextall, 13, swam exceptionally well in the 200m Freestyle achieving LC PB and coming in 2nd place. A second Silver medal was claimed in 100m Freestyle.

Frances Luckup, 14, secured a well-deserved 2 second PB after a strong swim in 100m Freestyle coming in 7th place as well as taking 7th place in 100m Backstoke final.

Richmond Dales April Fools Gala – April 2016. A small group of swimmers from KUHSC attended the Richmond Dales meet held at John Charles centre for sport in Leeds.

Junior A Squad

Lily Hawkard, 13, continued her top form taking a well-deserved 1st place in the 200m Individual medley (IM) in 2.33.49 with a 3 second PB, followed by Gold in 200m Butterfly in 2.35.23 wiping 4 seconds off her PB. A further Gold medal was achieved in 100m Butterfly and Bronze in 200m Backstroke.

Ellie Hextall, 13, produced excellent swims clinching Gold in 100m and 200m Freestyle, both with Long Course PB’s as well as Bronze in 50m Freestyle.

Frances Luckup, 14, swam exceptionally well in the girls 400m Freestyle securing a LC PB and Bronze medal, followed by Silver in 50m Freestyle.

Junior B Squad

Finlay Gowan,13, had another fantastic gala. In a great performance in the challenging 1500m freestyle Finlay set a new pb, finishing in 19.12.19, taking silver and gaining his North East Regional (NER) qualifying time. Finlay also set a new pb in the 400m freestyle and 200m backstroke, swimming both in NER qualifying times. More pb’s followed in the 200m IM and the 100m backstroke, gaining 2 new Yorkshire qualifying times.

Josh Wormald,13, had a great weekend. In an impressive swim Josh knocked 3 seconds from his 100m fly time to take the bronze medal, achieving a long course NER qualifying time. Another long course NER followed in the 100m backstroke with a 1.7 second pb and silver medal. Josh then slices 3 seconds from his 200m IM time, and set new pb’s in the 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke and 100m freestyle.

Ben Shipley, 13, competed in 7 events across the weekend, swimming strongly to gain 3 new pbs, 6 top 5 finishes, a silver medal in the 200m backstroke and a bronze in the 1500m freestyle.

Mason Bland,12, had a successful gala, taking 4 medal places. Mason achieved gold in the 200m backstroke, and 2 silvers in the 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke. Finally Mason took 4th place on the 50m freestyle.

Isobel Shimmels,11, had a great weekend, competing in six events. Isobel took the silver medal in the 100m backstroke with a new time of 1.20.06. In the 100m freestyle Isobel finished in 1:11:10, second place for another silver medal. Another pb followed in the 50m butterfly, a time of 35:45, gave Isobel a fourth place finish, narrowly missing bronze. Isobel then swam to 8th place in the 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 200m IM.

A great gala for Izzy Hextall (10). On Saturday she swam in 4 races: 100m Back, 50m fly, 400m free and 100m free and achieved all golds. On Sunday Izzy had 3 races and gained gold in the 200m free and 50m free and silver in the 200m IM.

Anya Betts,12, put in a great effort in all her races, setting 2 new long course pb’s in the 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke, finishing in 5th place. In a close race Anya took 4th place in the 50m backstroke finishing in 38.72 just missing out on the bronze medal.

Hollie McMullen ,12, did extremely well across her events. In a strong performance Hollie knocked 4 seconds from her 100m freestyle, in 1.13.52. Another pb followed in the 200m freestyle slicing 5 secs off in 2.43.90, 50m backstroke 3 secs off in 40.01, and 200m backstroke 2 secs off in 3.04.80.

Scarlett Lees,11, worked hard to set 5 new pb’s. In a great race Scarlett took 5th place in the 100m backstroke, finishing in 1.31.34. 6th place followed in the 50m breaststroke with anther pb, followed by top 10 finishes in the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

Swimmers had a phenomenal gala, huge amounts of times wiped off their Pb’s, and excellent use of technique.

9 year old Heidi Porter removed a total of 134 secs off her Pb’s. She took silver in the 100m free 1:27:72(9 sec pb) and YQ time. Silver in 50m free 39:47 (1 sec pb), Bronze in 200 free3:13:69 (18 sec pb), 4th in 200m IM 3:47:97 (17 sec pb), 7th in 200 Breast 4:30:29 (20sec pb), 6th in 200m Back 3:34:42 (35 sec pb), 6th in 100m Back 1:43:47 (25 sec pb), and 11th in 100m Breast 2:09:98 (9 sec pb).

9 year old Emily Afiya Rickinson removed 95 secs from her Pb’s. She took Gold in 200m IM 3:31:17 (16 sec Pb), Silver in 200m Breast 4:09:26 (24 sec Pb), Silver in 200m frees 3:08:36 (10 sec Pb), Silver in 200m Breast 1:56:12 (13 sec Pb), 5th in 200m Back 3:32:03 (25sec Pb), 4th in 100m Back 1:37:99 (4 sec Pb), and 4th in 100m free1:28:28 (3 SEC Pb)

10 year old Bethan Candlin was 4th in 50m Breast 52:36 YQ Time, 6th in 200m Breast 3:51:42 YQ Time, 16th in 100m free 1:25:42 YQ Time, B Gold in 100m Breast1:52:48, B Gold in 200m free 3:07:86, B Silver in 200m IM 3:41:97, and B Bronze in 200m Back 3:37:20.

11 year old Amy Russell had a very good competition, taking Gold in her first attempt at 400m free, she competed in 8 events winning 4th and 5th place medals, and removing 74 seconds off her Pb’s.

Junior B Squad

Izzy Hextall, 10, had an amazing weekend. On Saturday she gained a pb in her 200m free and a speeding ticket; a pb and a speeding ticket in her 100m back; gold in 200 IM and a speeding ticket in 100m free. Sunday was equally as good with silvers in 100m and 200m breast with pbs, and a pb and gold in 100m fly. Izzy’s biggest achievement though was her 200m back where a 14 sec pb gave her not only a speeding ticket but her first North East Regional (NER) qualifying time for May.

Hollie McMullen, 12, achieved fantastic results over the weekend. Hollie knocked 16 secs off her 400m free in 5.39.61. Hollie also brought home B grade gold in the 200m free in 2.40.18 a 6 second pb. Another 5 seconds sliced from her 100m back in 1.24.43, and in an outstanding effort Hollie smashed her 200m IM time by 9 secs, gaining a B grade silver in 3.01.65. B grade golds followed in the 100m breast, and the 200m breast in 3.30.78, a 7 sec pb. Finally Hollie set a new 8 second pb in the 200m back and took 1 sec from her 100m free in 1.15.58.

Anya Betts, 12, gained 7 new pb’s across her 8 events Anya knocked 1 sec off her 50m back, her new time of 37.83 taking A grade bronze. Another 1 sec pb in the 100m back, finishing in 1.17.85 and taking A grade 6th place, narrowly missing her NER time. 3 sec pb’s followed in the 200m Free and 200m breast, then Anya sliced 2 secs off her 200m back finishing in 2.47.69, another A grade 6th place.

Amy Kitching,12, achieved 7 pbs from her 8 races the best of these being a 12 seconds in the 200m IM in a time of 3:04.62, she won B grade gold in the 50m free in a time of 34.90, she gained an 11 sec pb in the 200m back which also gained B grade bronze in 2:59.58, Amy then sliced 9 secs from her previous time in the 400m free finishing in 5:53.97

Libby Akrill, 11, raced to the A grade gold medal in the 50m breast, with a 1 sec pb in 44.00. Another A grade gold followed in the 200m breast in 3.26.06, a 14 sec pb. The 100m breaststroke saw another A grade medal, with Libby taking bronze.

Lily Tate,12, had a phenomenal gala achieving 5 pb’s and gaining 13 year old Yorkshire Qualifying Time’s in 400m free, by gaining a massive 19 second p.b and 100m back with a 4 second pb.

Scarlett Lees,11, raced to 3 medal positions over the weekend, her 18 sec pb in the 200m breast earned her B grade silver, with another B grade silver in the 100m breast in 1.41.89. Scarlett swam strongly in the 50m free , finishing in 33.97 taking A grade bronze. Finally a B grade 5th place in the 200m back.

In a great weekend swimming Phoebe Tomlinson,12, set 5 new pb’s and took home 4 medals. Phoebe took B grade silver in the 200m free, and a second pb in the 50m back led to another B grade silver. A third B grade silver followed in the 200m back in 2.57.60. A 6 sec pb in the 200m breast in 3.37.29 resulted in B grade bronze. Phoebe set new times in the 400m freestyle 3 sec pb and sliced a fraction of a second from her 100m free and 100m breast.

Tayla Ross,10, took 5 A grade gold medals, one silver and one speeding ticket. Tayla smashed 14 secs from her 200m free to take first place in 2.37.73. Her new time of 1.20.25 in the 100m back resulted in a speeding ticket, then 9 secs off her 200m IM saw Tayla race to A grade silver. 8 seconds off her 200m back saw another gold medal in 2.52.98, three further golds followed in the 100m free (2 second pb), 100m breast (3 second pb) and the 200m breast in 3.29.83 ( 6 second pb).

Abbie Harris,10, had a great Easter meet., gaining pb’s in all her races, taking home 6 A grade medals. In a great race Abbie knocked 10 secs off her 200m IM and a fantastic 15 secs off her 200m breast in 3.34.44 to take A grade 4 th place.

Ben Shipley,13, started the weekend in great form earning an A grade gold and an NER qualifying time of 4.37.86 taking 11 secs off his previous time in the 400m free. His following 7 races all produced new pb times and earned him top 3 places in each race that he swam in bringing home a further 3 silver A grade medals and 4 bronze A grade medals and another NER qualifying time in the 200m back, smashing 8 secs of his previous time with a new time of 2.30.25.

Josh Wormald,13, had a fantastic weekend swimming. Josh earned 9 pb’s from his 9 events, bringing home 4 A grade gold medals, 3 silver, and reaching 3 NER qualifying times. Josh knocked 5 seconds off his 400m IM time, earning him the gold medal and his NER time. Another NER in the 200m back with a 4 second pb and another first place finish. Josh sliced 3 seconds from his 100m breast stroke to take another gold, and a fantastic 10 secs from his 200m breast bagging him anther gold medal finish. The 100m fly saw a 5 sec pb, silver medal position and an NER time, 4 secs tumbled from his 200m free, and a fraction of a second from his 100m back saw Josh take another gold medal and improve on his existing NER time. A second pb on the 200m IM was a silver medal finish, and in the 100m free Josh sliced another 2 secs from his time.

Ryan Porter,12, set 7 new pb’s over the weekend. In a great race Ryan knocked 15 secs from his 200m breast to finish in 3.19.70 taking 7th place. Ryan raced to A grade gold medal position in the 100m backstroke, knocking a second from his previous time to finish in 1.11.72. Another 6 secs were sliced from the 100m breast, and 5 secs from the 200m free, in 2.23.93 to take A grade silver. A grade silvers for Ryan followed in the 200m back (2.34.70) and 100m free (1.06.82). Finally a 1 sec pb ion the 200m IM resulted in third place A grade.

Finlay Gowan,12, had another brilliant gala weekend. In an outstanding effort Finlay knocked 13 secs form his 400m free to finish in 4.48.95 reaching his NER qualifying time. Another NER time followed in the 200m back with a 7 sec pb. The 200m breast saw Finlay match his previous time by 23 secs to finish in 3.13.97 and a Yorkshire Qualifying time, and another 7 sec pb in the 100m breast resulted in another Yorkshire time.

Regional A & B Squads

Regional girls produced some amazing swims at Ennerdale on the weekend of 1st 2nd and 3rd April 5, 2016. 15 year old Megan Batterbee and Hollie Mendoza 14 really shone in their respective races. Megan began by improving her 200 free time by 4 secs. She followed that with a 2 sec pb and an A grade silver medal in 100m back. She produced an excellent swim, a pb and an A grade gold in 50m back and a silver medal in 100m free, a gold medal in 200m back and 50m fly, a silver in 100m fly and an A grade time in 50m free.

Hollie also had a fantastic weekend, she competed in all 5 sessions of the meet including the 400m free on Friday night. She managed to pb in all of her races taking 3 secs off her 50m breast stroke, 1 sec 100m back 1 second 50m back, 2 seconds 100m free, 5 seconds 50m fly and 100m breast and 1 second 50m free where she also won a bronze medal.

Jolie Bull, 14, also had an impressive medal and personal best haul, beginning with a 2nd place in the 400m free, 3rd and 1 sec pb in 200 free, 1st 100 free 2nd and 4 sec improvement 200m back, 2nd 50m fly and 1st place and 3 sec pb for 100m fly. She also competed in 100m back 50m back and 50m free.

Molly Marritt, 14, took 3rd place in 400m free 1st and 2 sec pb in 200m free and 50m breast, 1 sec pb 50m fly bronze medal 100m breast, silver 200m breast and finished with a pb and A grade bronze in 50m free.

Iyanna Purdy, 14 ,continued the success in this age group with solid swims in the 400m free and 200m free, a gold medal 100m back, pb and gold in 50m back, gold 200m back finishing with a pb in 50m fly, Completing the 14 year old line up Regional B swimmers Shona Thurston and Hannah bird joined their regional A team mates. Shona won gold in Fridays 400m free, improved her 200m free by 1 sec, and competed in 100m back, 200m IM, 50m back, 100m free, 200m back 50m fly and 50m free. Hannah Bird returning from injury competed in 50m breast, 100m back 50m back and 100m free, welcome back Hannah.

15 year old Maddie Tait had a brilliant weekend, she took 1st place and 2 sec pb for 50m breast, silver and 4 secs off 100m back, gold and 4 secs 50m back and 100m free, 3 sec pb 200m back, 3 secs 50m fly, 5 seconds 100m breast and 2 secs and an A grade time for 50m free. Emma Newmarch, 15, began with a strong swim in 200m free, she improved her 50m breast by 2 secs and won a bronze medal, silver and a pb 50m back, silver and 1 sec 50m fly, bronze and 5 sec 100m breast and bronze medal for 50m free. In the same age group Emily Tate proved that her hard work in training is paying off, as she came away with a 1 sec improvement in 100m free and placed 3rd in 200m back, Emily went on to produce solid swims in 100 breast, 50m back , 100m back and 50m breast. Kennedy Akrill, also 15 had a great start with silver in 200m free, she followed that with and A grade bronze medal in 50m breast, a 1 second pb in 50m fly, silver in 100 breast, gold in 200m breast and finished her weekend with a 1 sec improvement and an A grade time in 50m free.

17 year old Hannah Willingham began with a very impressive gold medal in the gruelling 400m IM on Friday night. She then went on to bag the A grade gold in the 200m IM the next day, following this with A grade silver and 1 sec pb 50m back, A grade silver and pb in 50m fly, A grade silver in 200m breast, a gold in 100m breast and finally A grade bronze in 50m free to complete an excellent weekend. Another impressive race came from Natasha Clark 16 who claimed the silver medal and a 10 sec best time in the 400m free. She went on to compete on Saturday in 50m breast, 50m back, 100m free and gained a pb in 100m back. Completing the line up for the girls, 19 year old Emma Beadle swam in 8 races over the weekend. She placed 3rd in 200m free improved her time in 50m back and 100m free, 3rd in 50m fly, and 2nd in 200m breast. Finishing off with 2nd place and a pb in 50m free.

For the boys, 15 year old Michael Hill impressed with a 6 sec pb in the 400m free. He went on to take 2 secs off his 50m fly, a silver medal and pb in 50m free, 3 sec pb 100m fly, bronze medal in 200m free, 2 sec pb 50m breast, 2nd place 200m IM and a pb for 100m free. He also swam well in the 100m breast.

Ethan Kingdom, 15, produced some fine swims , beginning with a massive 18 sec pb in Fridays 400m fc. He continued to improve his times with 1 sec off 50 fly, 2 secs and 2nd place 100m fly, 4 secs 200m free, 2 sec 50m breast and a first YQT, 2 sec and 1st place 50m back and another first YQT in the event, 2 sec and 2nd place 100m free.

Mitchell Davis, 16, was the only boy in regional to attempt the 400m IM he came away with a 20 sec pb and A grade bronze to start his weekend in fine style. He managed a pb in 50m fly, a bronze medal 100m breast, pb 50m free, 1st place and 3 sec pb 100m fly, 2nd and pb 200m free, 2nd 1 sec pb 50m breast, 3rd and pb 50m back and a further pb 100 fc. 14 year old Jake Conlon started his competition with an outstanding swim in 200m backstroke, he took 2 secs off his time, and won an A grade gold medal, securing an NER time. He won another gold in 200m breast, A grade bronze and a pb for 50 mfree, A grade bronze and 3 sec pb for 200m free, A grade silver and pb 100 back and 50m back and a further pb and A grade bronze for 100 free. John Adams, 14, had his first race in the 50m fly where he took 1 sec off his pb and won A grade gold. A massive 8 sec pb and silver medal for 100m breast, a pb in 50m free, 6 secs and 1st 200m free, pb and 1st 50m breast, 2 sec pb and 1st 50m back and 100m free.

James Tether, 15, came away with several personal best times and medals. He took 2 seconds off 50, fly, bronze medal 200, breast, 2 sec pb and bronze 50m free, 3 sec 200m free, 1 sec 50m breast, 2 sec 50m back and a fantastic 6 seconds 100 mfree. 15 year old Matthew Dixon reduced his 400m free time by 6 secs, a gold medal and 7 sec pb 200m back, bronze and 4 sec 50m fly, silver medal 100 breast, 2 seconds and 1st place 200m breast and 1 sec 50m free. Liam Spence, 15, had another brilliant meet, he came 2nd and knocked 3 seconds off his 400m free, A grade bronze 200m free, 4 secs and gold for 50m breast, gold 100m back, 3 sec pb 200m IM, silver and 2 sec 50m back and gold in 100m free. Kaso Kareem, 16, managed to take home some medals despite fighting injury. He took 2nd place in 50m fly, 1st 100m breast and 200m free and a bronze for 100m free. Newcomer Harry Van Maarseveen, 16 , competed in 400 free gaining a valuable first ever time and a gold medal. Following this with 1 sec pb and gold 100m breast and 50m free, 1 sec pb 100m fly, 3 sec pb 50m breast, 3 sec pb and silver 100m back and finishing with 1 sec pb for 50m back and 100m free.

Junior A Squad

Lily Hawkard, 13, had an excellent weekend starting with the girls 400m Individual Medley (IM) coming in 1st place in 5.19.73 achieving a speeding ticket and North East Qualifying time (NER). Lily went on to secure 4 further NER times, Gold medals and PB’s in 200m Back in a time of 2.28.34, 100m & 200m Breast and 100m fly. Lily also took 1st place & PB in 50m fly in 31.92.

Equally impressive was Frances Luckup, 14, who started her weekend with an exceptional swim in the 400m Free event coming in 1st place with PB & NER time in 4.38. Frances had further outstanding swims in 100m & 200m Freestyle with some excellent PB’s achieving Silver medals and NER times. Frances also claimed Gold and NER time in 200m Back in 2.29.22 and Gold in 50m Freestyle in 29.38, completing her weekend with Silver, PB & YQT in 100m fly.

Callum Willert, 12, was on top form clinching a well-earned 12 sec PB and speeding ticket in the 400m Free in 4.48.99. Callum went on to take Gold in 100m Breast, Silver & PB in 200m Breast, Silver in 100m fly and Bronze medals & PB’s in 50m Free and 200m Back with a time of 2.38.18.

Alex Everson, 13, produced some great swims starting with the Boys 400m Free securing Silver, PB and NER time followed by Gold, PB and NER time in 400m IM. Alex’s best effort came in the 200m IM event where he secured a 6 sec PB, Gold & NER time in 2.29.82. Silver medals & PB’s were achieved in 200m Free, 50m and 100m Back ending with PB in 100m Free.

Grace Rispin, 12 had a very successful weekend with impressive performances in the 200m I.M, clinching Gold, PB & NER time in 2.40.32, as well as NER time, Bronze and 11 sec PB in 200m Breast in 3.03.69. Grace secured Silver medals & PB’s in 200 & 400m free; Bronze medals & PB’s in 100m Free and 100m Breast as well as PB in 200m Back.

Ellie Hextall, 13 produced some impressive swims achieving a massive PB in 200m fly to take Silver and NER time, Followed by Silver, PB & NER time in 100m fly. A third Silver medal and PB was achieved in 200m Breaststroke completing a successful weekend.
