KINGSTON STARS SWIM FASTER THAN EVER AT WINTER NATONALS

Kingston Upon Hull Swimming Club’s top swimmers go from strength to strength and they proved once again that the hours in the training pool pay off in the end.

Rio Daodu, Joseph Moment, Joseph Pickering, Libby Munday, Megan Chu, Owen Garsides and Josh McCollin all competed at Sheffield’s renowned Ponds Forge over 4 days in December.     Rio swam a brilliant personal best time of 23.04 in the 50m free final, coming 5th, and then made it to 9th in the 100 fly final after a very quick turnaround. He came in 8th in the 17/under final of the 50m fly and ended the competition on a high, winning bronze in the 50m backstroke.

Also from the club’s Elite Performance squad, Libby Munday swam a new personal best in the heats, making it to the Junior 200m back 17/under final, where she then swam faster again, clocking an amazing 2:14.00 and coming in 8th!  Coming 5th in the 50m back final was a fabulous way to finish against such tough competition.

Owen Garsides had a great nationals, coming an impressive 7th in the Multi-Class 100m free final, won bronze in the MC 100m butterfly final (1:02.26) and 4th in the MC 50m backstroke with another personal best.

Megan Chu smashed her 200m butterfly personal best, swimming an impressive 2:18.82, Josh McCollin swam a gutsy 50m fly, and Joseph Pickering swam a powerful 200m butterfly in 2:10.07. Joseph Moment swam the 1500m free in a staggering 15:36.87, knocking over 20 seconds off his entry time and coming 2nd in the 17/under category and 9th overall.
